Violin sounds hollow?
I'm a beginner at the violin and when i strike some of the notes on the A string, it sounds really hollow and not rich at all. I have played other instruments and is really educated in the music field so i know how the notes should sound when its being played correctly.
is there any tips or ideas that you guys can give me to help me make the notes sound more rich and less hollow? the way i stroke the bow, the speed of my bow per stroke, the pressure on the bow, anything?

There are two reasons why the sound of some of the notes on the A string sound hollow. First of all, are you sure that there is nothing wrong with the violin? When I was selling my 3/4 violin I took it in to get repaired. The guy shifted the sound post, and afterwards I played it and the D string sounded terrible... it still does. The hollow sound might also be due to the type of strings you are using.
The other reason the sound is hollow is of course due to the way you are playing it. No offense, but all beginners to the instrument sound bad. It will take a while for you to figure out the right combination of... well, everything, to make a good sound.
Since every string is different, you will need to use different bow techniques to produce a nice sound on each of them. If the A string is giving you trouble, just experiment on that string until you find the sound you are looking for. Start by varying the pressure of the bow on the string. You should be able to make a deep sound if you apply the correct pressure, and are playing on the right part of the string. A deep sounding note can be played at almost all bow speeds. Another thing that will help is vibrato. Different speeds and styles of vibrato will give very different sounds.
Sorry, I cannot tell you exactly how much pressure to apply, or the exact bow speed, because every person has a unique style of playing, and also because full size violins (or any violins) are all different... string lengths, length of the violin, length of tailpiece and fingerboard etc... but I hope I helped you.
